Pretty mediocre, not particularly worth buying, but worth paging through as review. Hypotheticals are extensive and not particularly helpful, but that's probably because of how relatively straightforward torts is (as compared to other courses).Might be a better use of your time to read first read case summaries (consider High Court Case Summaries -- they'll save your life 1L year). Then read the cases out of the casebook (Torts cases are really entertaining!). Read your notes section carefully. Make flashcards early on (I didn't, but I wish I did). If you really have time, read this. Maybe just go to your university's library and see if you can find a copy there.Or just don't even waste your time with that and consider spending your time outlining instead. Just my two cents.
I like the book but my brand new book came with an entire chapter missing (the introductory chapter on Duty--very important) and page numbers all out of order. For 50 bucks I would like to receive a functional book
The book is missing pages 205 to 300. Some sections are also out of order.
This got me an amazing grade despite not really reading the cases. I knew them so that I could site to them but this book will get you 80% there. Proximate causation was so good. One classmate kept telling me these books would "mess you up" well, I got the better grade by a lot soooooo
While I find this book often gives an overly simplistic view of tort law, its clear and concise language can be a lifesaver during your 1L year. Our professor paired this book with a more in-depth casebook and I thought the two complimented each other nicely.
Ok for a basic overview. I wouldn't depend on this for class, some things were overly simplified and not clearly explained. Also, Tarasoff section is wrong (duty to warn is Tarasoff 1, Tarasoff 2 is duty to use reasonable care)
This book helped me understand the material very well. It is a bit long so I suggest not waiting until the last minute to try to read through it. Do it each week with the corresponding lesson you are learning in class.
Very helpful study aid, although not complete in all topics. But very well written and CLEAR.
